Long is the day full of pain.
Sadness creeps into our hearts,
Despair clings to our souls,
and makes us weep.
Strife causes disharmony,
feeding the beast of hate.
Enemies amass encircling,
trapping the pious ones,
killing them with rage.
Serenity has died,
it shall have no burial,
for evil praises nothing.
All is lost to pain,
and the shadows,
as friends turn to enemies.
Devils strike the innocent,
hope is destroyed forever,
severing the lines of life.
Tears frozen by grief,
Hearts torn asunder,
Families slaughtered.
Blood rushes through the streets,
sweeping everything out of its way,
drowning the weak in crimson torrents,
as babes wail and mothers beg mercy,
but the invaders have non to give,
and all before them is consumed.
Flames as tall as mountains leap,
covering homes in killing light,
ever-hungry it swallows all things.
Scorched, the city is made ash,
fine structures warped and broken,
blackened corpses fill the streets,
the smell and affront to the gods.
Frozen ground is drenched,
rivers of blood flow where the dead lie.
A sight most foul to behold.
Corpses stacked towards the sky,
scorched by searing light,
twisted beyond all recognition.
Life has abandoned this place,
nothing stirs amidst the slaughter.
Eyes stare blankly at heaven’s vault,
animals begin to feed on the slain.
Silence deafens the living,
acrid smoke pervades the air,
tearing at untrained nostrils.
All is lost amidst frozen tears
